AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day sponsored by the Clearwater Kennel Club and other area dog clubs, a community event promoting responsible dog ownership, to be held every September in the greater Tampa Bay area.
The community will have the opportunity to gather information on specific breeds, canine training and have questions answered by many experts in canine health and wellness. There will be over 40 breeds represented that the public can have hands-on encounters and have questions answered about a specific breed. There will be many shelters and breed rescue groups present trying find forever homes for their animals.
There will be on-going demonstrations throughout the day to include agility, obedience, weight pulling and Parade of Breeds. Often the Clearwater Police Dept K-9's give demonstrations. The 4-H KIDS and their K-9's often give demonstrations.
Dogs may earn a Canine Good Citizen Award by taking a test that will be administered throughout the day. A small fee will be charged for this test. The test is open to all canines.
There will be many booths providing information and training on canine health and wellness that may include a Canine Behaviorist, Canine Massage, Canine Chiropractor, Red Cross First Aid and CPR, Spay/Neuter Clinic, Canine Cardiology, Canine Eye and Canine Emergencies. There are usually representatives from the Southeast Guide Dogs and Therapy/Service Dogs. Also in attendance will be many vendors offering for sale: pet food, supplies, treats, photography, kennels, groomers, pet sitters, jewelry and clothing.
The public is invited, along with on leash well-behaved four-legged companions.
