Training Classes
The Clearwater Kennel Club hosts a weekly training class. Intended as much to give the novice ring savvy as it is to give the experienced exhibitor a chance to train his or her puppies, the training class has something for everyone.

Club Meetings |
|
The Clearwater Kennel Club meets the third Tuesday of the month. Education programs often start the agenda. Meetings generally last for about an hour and cover current issues and future plans for the Club's various activities.
Membership is $25.00 per year. Prior to submitting an application, prospective club members need to attend 2 consecutive meetings. After attending the second meeting, the prospective club member's name and address are printed in the club's newsletter. The application is then voted on.

Every year the Clearwater Kennel Club puts on a Match. From the young dogs competing to the exhibitors gaining training tips to the judges sometimes practicing ring procedure for the first time, matches are intended to give all concerned a hands-on-education in dog shows. The match is much more casual than a regular show and no AKC championship points are given.

Club History |
|
| |
The Clearwater Kennel Club was established as an American Kennel Club licensed institution in 1941. It was a small club whose main role was to play a part in the Winter Florida Circuit of dog shows.
In those days, most Florida clubs had one show a year, in the winter. Their show was set up so that exhibitors could escape the winter snows, starting in Jacksonville, through Orlando to Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tampa, down to Sarasota and finish in Miami .
Most shows had under 500 dogs entered. In the 1950's the Clearwater show was held in the long since torn down Municipal Building.
Today, the Clearwater Kennel Club owns property with three other kennel clubs in Brooksville, FL. and holds two shows there in January, with entries around 3000 dogs per day.
However, the Clearwater Kennel Club is about more than just holding dog shows. It's active and hardworking membership are involved in all sorts of canine activities.

Information Line |
| |
The Club's phone line is set up as an information line for people wanting to know more about pure bred dogs. The experienced club member answering this line can answer questions ranging from where can I find a quality puppy of the breed I am looking for, to why hasn't the AKC sent back my puppy's papers, to when do Beagles show at our next dog show?
